Davos 2026. The "Board of Peace" is how ethnic cleansing now presents itself: not with jackboots, but with PowerPoint.
Nancy Perin
By any historical measure, the spectacle at Davos in 2026 was obscene.
As financiers and power brokers applauded politely, the son-in-law of a U.S. president unveiled a “master plan” for Gaza: slides of resorts, redevelopment phases, and investment potential. Donald Trump looked on approvingly. Jared Kushner spoke the language of property developers everywhere—potential, phasing, returns.
What was absent was the reality beneath the renderings: Gaza is not vacant land. It is a crime scene.
Andrew Feinstein, the South African anti-corruption investigator whose family was decimated in the Holocaust, captured the moral inversion precisely. He asked us to imagine a Trump relative unveiling a Riviera on the ruins of Auschwitz or Theresienstadt—personally profiting from land cleared by mass slaughter.
What is proposed for Gaza is not reconstruction. It is liquidation.
At Davos, Kushner presented on behalf of the so-called “Board of Peace,”a body with no legal standing, no democratic mandate, and no accountability under international law.
Its Executive Board reportedly includes Tony Blair, Steve Witkoff, and Marco Rubio—figures whose careers have been intertwined with wars sold as humanitarian necessity and delivered as catastrophe.
The Board’s existence itself signals something darker than diplomacy: the privatization of post-war order.
Imagine the son-in-law of the US President presenting a ‘vision and plan’ for a shiny city with resorts on the ruins of Auschwitz or Theresienstatd where dozens of my mother’s family and tens of thousands of others were slaughtered. And from which he will personally benefit.… https://t.co/eGyGXb2HKN

The conflict of interest is not theoretical. It is documented.
During a 60 Minutes interview aired in October 2025, Steve Witkoff made an admission that should have ended the conversation instantly. He and Kushner, he said, had been working on Gaza “master plans” for two years. Kushner visibly shifted in his seat as the words landed. Two years.
That timeline places planning well before October 7, 2023. Long before the destruction of Gaza was presented as a tragic inevitability, its “after” had already been monetized.
The war was not simply followed by a redevelopment vision; it appears to have been anticipated.
Lesley Stahl asked the obvious questions: who would pay, who would decide, and who would get the contracts?
Witkoff answered with the ease of a man untroubled by law or precedent. Fifty billion dollars, perhaps more. Gulf money. European participation. “The money raising is the easy part,” he said.
What mattered was the plan. And that plan, he confirmed, already existed.
This is how ethnic cleansing now presents itself: not with jackboots, but with PowerPoint.
The conflict of interest is not theoretical. It is documented.
Their words:
LESLEY STAHL: So the Middle East countries are gonna provide the money?
STEVE WITKOFF: I—yeah, well, you’ll see European participation and so forth. I think the beginning of this plan is how to get it going. And that’s what I and Jared work on all the time.
The money raising, we think, is the easy part. We think that happens relatively quickly. But it’s the master plan, and we’re working with a group of people who have been working on master plans for the last two years.
LESLEY STAHL: So there are plans already?
JARED KUSHNER: Yeah
STEVE WITKOFF: We have plans already. We have a master plan already. And by the way, Jared’s been pushing this, and we’re working together on it, and I think if the world saw the progress so far, they’d be pretty impressed.
JARED KUSHNER: Yeah, so basically over the last couple years there have been a lot of organizations that have been trying to determine what happens after the war.
What’s clear right now is we’re very much focused on the humanitarian and the deconfliction to make sure that the aid can get to the people.
Jared Kushner is an Investor Embedded in the very Architecture of Dispossession.
In January 2025, The Lever revealed that Kushner had nearly doubled his stake in Phoenix Financial Ltd., one of Israel’s largest financial and insurance firms, acquiring close to ten percent ownership—making him its largest shareholder. Phoenix has direct financial exposure to Israeli settlements widely recognized as illegal under international law. It owns major stakes in commercial developments in East Jerusalem settlements and finances infrastructure projects and local councils operating beyond the Green Line.
In August 2025—just months before Davos—a press release confirmed that Kushner’s firm, Affinity Partners, remained Phoenix Financial’s single largest investor.
This matters because settlements are not incidental to Gaza’s destruction; they are its structural precedent. The same legal fictions, financial instruments, and political shields that normalized land seizure in the West Bank now reappear, fully scaled, in Gaza. What was once gradual is now total.
When Kushner speaks of “redevelopment,” he does so not as a neutral mediator but as an investor embedded in the very architecture of dispossession. International humanitarian law is explicit: the forcible transfer of a population and the appropriation of occupied territory for private gain constitute grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions. No rebranding as humanitarian reconstruction alters that fact.
Gaza Master Plan: the Ethnic Cleansing Professionalized, Monetized, and Sold as Peace.
The “Board of Peace” proposes to bypass international institutions entirely. No United Nations mandate. No Palestinian consent. No refugee right of return. Gaza’s population is reduced to a logistical inconvenience—something to be “calmed down for 30 days,” as Kushner put it, while plans advance.
This is not peace-building. It is an enclosure.
What makes this moment especially dangerous is not merely the brutality of the proposal but the normalization of its logic.
War becomes a pre-development phase.
Mass death becomes a clearing mechanism.
Reconstruction contracts become rewards for proximity to power.
Accountability is replaced by arbitration clauses.
Pilger warned repeatedly that modern imperialism would no longer announce itself with flags but with euphemisms: humanitarian intervention, stabilization, and economic opportunity.
Gaza now stands as the clearest expression of that evolution. A population is being erased not only physically but also narratively—transformed from people with rights into land with “potential.”
History will not be confused about this.
Long after the Davos applause fades, the record will show that plans were drawn while bombs were falling, that investors stood to profit from destruction, and that Western leaders chose commerce over law.
The question is not whether this will be judged as a crime. It is whether those watching now will pretend they did not understand what was happening when the slides went up!
